The urs mubarak ( death anniversary ) of HazratKhwaja Moinuddin Chishti is celebrated every sixteenth of the Islamic month of Rajab.The annual Urs of Khwaja Garib Nawaz R.A.is celebrated in Ajmer Sharif.If one were to break this down into simpler terms, it marks that saint's attaining a level of companionship with the divine - a matter known as "Urs" in Sufi terminology.
Thousands of devotees come to India and abroad during these blessed days to attend Qawwali nights, Langar (community meal), Deg cooking, Chadar Poshi etc., inside the precinct of dargah.
The air around the shrine is heady with rose petals, incense and devotional chants. Ajmer lit up with bulb and belief of peaceful coexistance of all religions. Pilgrims come to present their Nazrana, Chadar Sharif, Badi Deg and Chhoti Deg as a symbol of their love.
